Our Mission

Velvet Buck didn’t start with a marketing plan. It started with a way of life — and the need for a wine that was made for it.
Born from a love of wild places and the meals they inspire, Velvet Buck is for those who pack out their own dinner, cook with intention, and know the difference between eating and earning a meal.
A portion of every bottle sold goes directly to Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, supporting their fight to keep public lands open, wild, and ours. We believe in what they stand for — because this land shapes who we are, and it’s worth fighting for.
Crafted with the outdoor table in mind, this red blend pairs with anything wild — backstrap, duck, or fresh-caught salmon. Bold, balanced, and versatile, it’s a Swiss Army knife for the wild game cook.
This is wine with backbone — a tribute to the hunt, the harvest, and the ground we all stand on.

The Vineyards
Planted in 1995 on California’s Central Coast, our Chalk Knoll vineyards sit 35 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. Tucked along a winding dirt road, the site rests in the rolling foothills of the Southern Monterey Coast—where coastal fog meets sun-warmed shale and clay. It’s here that the land gives the vines both grit and grace, shaping wines with structure, soul, and a sense of place.
